Your Blessing Is At The Door

Robin Smiley

2020 has truly been an unforgettable year. For some, it seems like if something could go wrong, it did, while others found themselves flourishing like never before. Today I want to encourage you, no matter in which state you find yourself. Although we have 6 weeks left in this year, you can still finish strong or even stronger. Here’s a few steps to make this a reality:

1. Prayer Partners-Surround yourself with like-minded people that will stand with you in faith. Moses was a powerful leader, but he needed Aaron and Hur to hold his hands up when he got weak during the battle (Exodus 17:12).

2. Praise-Instead of complaining about what’s not going right, take the time to praise God for what is going right. Although you may feel like nothing is happening, remember faith doesn’t care about your feelings. God is moved by your faith, not your feelings. Your praise will loosen the shackles from your mind and allow you get in sync with what God is saying and doing. Paul and Silas experienced this in Acts 16-25-29.

3. Possess-To possess means to take ownership, or to seize. Prayer and praise will bring the blessing to you, but in order to experience the blessing you have to receive it. In Acts 12, we learn that Peter was put in prison. His prayer partners were praying and worshipping as a form of intercession on his behalf. In fact, verse 5 says “constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church”. Later in the chapter we see that as a result of their prayer, an angel of the Lord appeared to Peter, while he was shackled between two other people, and summoned Peter to get up and follow him. Peter thought he was dreaming until he realized he was outside of the gates of the prison. At this realization, he went to the house of his prayer partners, to let them know their prayers had been answered. However, when he got to the door and knocked, they delayed opening the door. Why? They didn’t believe that their prayer had been answered. They even accused Rhoda of being crazy and when she insisted, they said “it must be his angel”. Peter kept knocking. He was persistent. He didn’t give up. This is how we are to be with our faith. Finally, they opened the door, and the bible says that they were astonished (Acts 12: 16), when they saw him.

In order to finish 2020 strong, we must pray in faith, believing that we will receive what it is we’re praying for. We must be like Rhoda and praise until we see the manifestation of the answer to our prayer, and then we have to open the door to possess the answer. Many of us have missed opportunities that we prayed for because we didn’t believe it when it was right in front of us, or we allowed fear and doubt to keep us from opening the door. Remember that God is not limited by time and space, so in these next six weeks, seek Him in prayer, praise Him while you wait, and open the door to possess your promises, when they arrive. Until next time....

Be blessed, but first comes obedience!
